Our Story

EveryStory was born from a shared belief, that people with learning disabilities and autistic people deserve lives full of choice, opportunity, and purpose.

In 2021, two long-standing charities, Lewisham Nexus Service and Aurora Options, came together to form Aurora Nexus. With shared values, strong local roots, and a deep commitment to person-led support, the merger brought together over 40 years of experience in the sector.

In August 2025, Aurora Nexus became EveryStory, a new name that better reflects who we are and what we stand for today.

Where we began

Lewisham Nexus Service began in 1993, driven by the goal of empowering people with learning disabilities and autistic individuals to take control of their lives. They developed personalized communication tools and held a core belief that everyone deserves to live with dignity, freedom, and purpose.

Aurora Options, founded earlier in 1981 by Eric and Andrea Mayo, pioneered community living for people with learning disabilities, a radical idea at the time. Their services, including Avalon House, focused on creating support that truly fit individuals' needs and desires, from housing to employment, always striving to help people be part of everyday life. Today, as EveryStory, we proudly continue these legacies, fostering environments where individuals feel safe, supported, and confident to live life on their own terms.

At EveryStory we want to create supportive environments where people feel safe and confident enough to be themselves, letting their personalities shine beyond any label or limitation.

Our mission is to support people with learning disabilities and autistic people by offering personalised care that respects their individuality, encourages them to try new experiences, and helps them face challenges without fear. Whether it’s building confidence, improving mental wellbeing, finding meaningful employment, or pursuing activities they truly enjoy, we are there every step of the way. Through a family-like approach, we create safe spaces where everyone feels secure, valued, and free to express their true selves.

We want to set the standard for a world where people with learning disabilities and autistic people are defined by their personalities, encouraged to take bold steps, and free to be whoever and whatever they want to be.
